What is a Portal?

A portal is a one-stop shop filled with information and application choices. The Delaware.gov Web Portal was constructed to be the primary gateway to information and services provided by the State of Delaware. It was designed to be intuitive and easy to use, regardless of a visitor's knowledge of the structure of state government. In addition, the Portal is constantly being revised to better reflect new information and services provided by different state entities, as well as feedback from Portal visitors. If you have comments or suggestions on how to improve the Delaware.gov Portal, please e-mail the Government Information Center (GIC).

Specific features of the Portal
  • Residents, businesses, visitors, state employees, and other governments can navigate the information and services provided by the State based on what they are seeking, not based on the agency or office that provides it.
  • People are linked to the correct information or application, even if they don't know which government agency is involved in providing it.
  • The Portal includes a powerful search engine for Delaware agency and partner sites.

Changes to the intentions in the Delaware.gov Portal require an agency to submit information to the Portal Management Team. The minimum information needed to make changes to the Portal intentions is as follows:
  1. The name of the Delaware agency or office requesting the change(s);
  2. The name of the designated Portal liaison requesting the change(s);
  3. The requested implementation date for the requested change(s); and,
  4. A detailed description of the change(s) to be made, including the specific URLs to be referenced in the Portal.
These changes can be submitted to the Portal Management Team via the online change request form.

Updating Portal Featured / Highlighted Items
Each Portal page contains a "Featured Items" section, as well as a set of highlighted links at the top of each page. These sections will be used to showcase new content and online applications developed by Delaware Government entities. The Featured Items section will be used to highlight new content pages, and the highlighted links at the top of each page will be used to highlight new online applications.

To request that an item be featured in one of these sections, please contact the Government Information Center (GIC). Items featured in these sections may be subject to time limitations based on the volume of requests or other factors, so requests should include a timeframe for which items should be included in these sections.
